The Drakensberg Legging
The Drakensberg is my favourite place on earth.
I grew up in these mountains. I climbed them, swam in their waterfalls, explored their forests and had more family picnics than I could ever count. When I think of freedom, I think of the Drakensberg. When I need peace, this is where my mind goes.
I painted this artwork from a small log cabin while staying there with my husband and children in March 2021. Looking out across the mountains, I watched the colours change as the sun moved across the valleys and cliff faces. The blues of the sky, the warmth of the rock, the deep shadows and the soft morning light all found their way into this painting.
For me, this isn't just a pair of leggings.
It's a place I love. A place that shaped me. A place that will always feel like home.
