Yoga

My name is Jen Rodd
I am a traditional Hatha Yoga teacher, certified through Yoga Alliance International. My classes are about presence: holding asanas longer and with focus, building endurance through breath, and discovering that quiet power that’s already within you.
My teaching is simple, honest, and precise — grounded in the belief that yoga isn’t about performance, but about presence.
In my classes, we build strength and balance through clear instruction, mindful movement, and breath-led awareness.
Yoga, to me, is connection — the meeting of body and mind through breath. It’s both preparation and pathway to the deeper stillness that meditation offers.
My students often discover strength they didn’t know they had — sometimes by holding a pose longer than they thought possible, sometimes by finding joy in balance for the first time.
I’ve practiced yoga long before it became fashionable, guided by teachers trained in the traditional lineages of India. I’m not a guru — I’m simply a lifelong student, sharing what I love with clarity, integrity, and heart.
When I’m not teaching, I’m in my studio designing prints for HOTRODDS — both are expressions of the same flow: movement, breath, and color for life.

Teaching Philosophy
My teaching is rooted in the principles of traditional Hatha Yoga: meditation, warm-ups, sun salutations, backbends, forward folds, twists, inversions, balances, breathwork, and finally deep rest in shavasana. Each class follows this rhythm, designed to prepare both body and mind for meditation.
I believe in holding postures longer to develop strength, endurance, and focus. Muscles may shake, balance may waver, but this is where growth happens — and with time, strength and confidence arise. Confidence brings peace, and peace opens the door to joy.
In my classes, students are encouraged to try, to explore, and sometimes to surprise themselves. My teaching is straightforward, encouraging, and grounded — never wishy-washy, never performative. My aim is that each person leaves not only with what they’ve practiced in class, but with tools to take into their own home practice, where the deepest transformation happens.
